Renovation of an educational facility in Louisville, Kentucky. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
The primary scope of work for this project is to replace the HVAC systems throughout the building. System upgrades include new boilers, chillers, and associated pumps. A new electrical service will be provided along with new light fixtures and the associated electrical system renovations required for the mechanical systems upgrade. Other electrical system upgrades include a new emergency generator, intercom, security, and fire alarm upgrades. The architectural scope of work includes flooring upgrades, reconfiguration of various interior spaces, energy efficient windows replacement, partial metal roof replacement, complete ceiling replacement, and other miscellaneous work to accommodate the new HVAC system. The work includes asbestos and lead removal. The work will be constructed under a single prime contract. The Owner reserves the right to accept any bid, reject any or all bids, to waive any informalities in bids received where such acceptance, rejection or waiver is considered to be in the best interest of the Owner, and to reject any bid where evidence or information submitted by the bidder does not satisfy the Owner that the bidder is qualified to carry out the details of the contract documents. Bid Guaranty in the form of a Certified/Cashier's Check or Bid Bond shall accompany each bid. The amount of the Bid Guaranty shall not be less than five percent (5%) of the bid set forth on the Form of Proposal. The Bid Guaranty shall be made payable to Jefferson County Public Schools. The Bid Guaranty shall be issued by a Surety Company that has an A.M. Best Company rating of "A-" or better. Refer to Supplemental Instructions to Bidders. Absence of this document will be grounds for automatic rejection of bids. Certified or cashier's checks will not be returned until Board approval of the successful bidder. Refer to spec section "JCPS Amendment to the General Conditions of the Contract for Construction" for requirements for 100% performance and payment bonds. The types of submittal requirements specified in this section include shop drawings, product data, samples, and miscellaneous work-related submittals. Individual submittal requirements are specified in applicable sections for each unit of work. Refer to other Division 1 sections and other Contract Documents for requirements of administrative submittals. Such submittals include but are not limited to the following items: Permits and Notifications Payment Applications Certificates ofInsurance Inspections Schedule of Values Progress Reports Listing of Subcontractors Construction Schedule Landfill Receipts Close-out Documents General. Provide temporary connection to existing building utilities or provide temporary facilities as required herein or as necessary to carry out the work. This section describes the equipment and procedures required for protecting workers against asbestos contamination and other workplace hazards except for respiratory protection. If asbestos abatement work is on damaged, friable surfacing and/or thermal system ACBM, the work is a four step procedure with two cleanings ofthe primary barrier plastic prior to its removal and two cleaning ofthe room surfaces to removal any new or existing contamination. This section describes the disposal ofAsbestos-Containing Materials. Disposal includes packaging of asbestos-containing waste materials. Disposal may be accomplished either by landfilling or converting asbestos-containing waste materials to non-asbestos waste.
