Site work and new construction of a fire / police facility in St Thomas, Ontario. Design plans call for the construction of a 33,600-square-foot, two-story above grade fire / police facility; and for site work for a fire / police facility.
Construction of the OPP Complex, to be situated on approx. 7.7 acres and consist of 3 separate buildings, which will support the policing of surrounding highway infrastructure, the growing local community and the future Volkswagen Battery Cell Plant, located approx. within 3km of the proposed site. The proposed buildings include the following: (1) - OPP Detachment, the primary function is to support the efficient and safe functionality of policing operations and is projected to be approx.18,000 sq ft (2-storey building). (2) - Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) Building primary function is to provide administrative & operational support space for local TRU members. This building is projected to be approx. 14,000 sq ft (1 to 2-storeys). (3) - Close Quarters Battle (CQB) Building, primary function is to accommodate scenario training for TRU members. This building is projected to be approx. 1,600 sq ft (1-storey building). TIMELINE: A Request for Proposals for architectural services has been awarded by the owner. Design status is unconfirmed. Tender will be issued pending owner's decision to proceed. Further update early 2026. *Construction cost is unreleased.
