To provide Preliminary/Detail Design Engineering including Project Management, Highway Engineering, Bridge Engineering, Drainage and Hydrology Engineering, Environmental, Geotechnical Engineering, Foundation Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Surveying services on Retainer in West Region. Parsons has been retained by Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) to produce Design Build Ready Package for the resurfacing of Highway 9 from 0.3km West of Vincent Street easterly to 0.2km East of West Heritage Street. This Group Work Project (GWP: 3076-14-00) includes the detail design for the reconstruction of Highway 9 and the replacement of various culverts on Highway 9 in the Townships of Howick, Minto, and Carrick. The project area is illustrated in Figure 1. This report provides a detailed outline of Roadside Safety components of this project based on information provided by MTO. This report also evaluates existing guide rail systems (length of need) and provides recommendations for the systems in accordance with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation's Roadside Design Manual (RDM).
