Conceptual plans call for the addition of a 3,600-square-foot data center facility; for the demolition of a data center facility; for the renovation of a data center facility; and for site work for a data center facility.

UC San Diego requests qualifications for selecting an Executive Architect for the Super Computer Data Center (SCDC) Expansion project. The proposed renovation will expand the existing data center at the San Diego Supercomputer Center. The existing East Expansion Conference Center will be repurposed as a data center, to house 100 server racks with 100kW power support for each rack. Additional utilities include new chillers and transformers. The estimated construction cost is $20,000,000. This renovation is approximately 3,600 assignable square feet (ASF) plus additional area for indoor and/or outdoor utility space. The University is committed to promoting and increasing participation of small business enterprises (SBEs) and disabled veteran business enterprises (DVBEs), subject to any and all applicable obligations under state and federal law, and University policies. The selected consultant shall make best efforts to provide qualified SBEs and DVBEs with the maximum opportunity to participate. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University policy. Each candidate firm may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
