Bridge Preventive Maintenance on I-55 (Bridge Nos. 37.5A, 37.5B, 30.3A, 30.3B, 29.4A, 29.4B, 26.4A, 26.4B, 24.8A, 24.8B, 22.6A, 22.6B, 8.4A & 8.4B), known as Federal Aid Project Nos. STBG-9999-07(379) / 108779307 & STBG-9999-07(379) / 1087793071 in Lincoln & Pike Counties. Value Estimate Range - $500,000 - $1,000,000 Project Completion: 109 Working Days For Federal Aid Projects the attention of bidders is directed to the contract provisions governing selection and employment of labor contained in the bid proposal. Minimum wage rates for Federal Aid Projects have been predetermined by the Secretary of Labor and are subject to Public Law 87-581, Work Hours Act of 1962, as set forth in the contract provisions. Unless otherwise set out in the bid proposal, all other projects are subject to the predetermined minimum wage rate set by the U.S. Department of Labor under the Fair Labor Standards Act. When a DBE goal is contained in the contract, the award will be contingent upon the Contractor satisfying the DBE requirements. Bid bond, signed or countersigned by a Mississippi Resident Agent or qualified non-resident agent, with Power of Attorney attached or on file with the Contract Administration Engineer of the Department, a Cashier's Check or Certified Check for five (5%) percent of bid, payable to State of Mississippi, must accompany each proposal. The attention of bidders is directed to the provisions of Subsection 102.07 pertaining to irregular proposals and rejection of bids. MS DOT - Call 10 - Bridge Preventive Maintenance on I-55 *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. The contract documents do not include an official set of construction plans, but may, by reference, include some Standard Drawings when so specified in a Notice to Bidders entitled, "Standard Drawings." Minor changes in detail of design or construction procedure may be authorized by the Director of Structures, State Bridge Engineer provided such changes will not be cause for contract price adjustment. Work for which no pay item is provided will not be paid for directly and shall therefore be considered an absorbed item of work. All details are based on the dimensions shown on the original plans for the existing structure. The Contractor shall be responsible for adjusting the elements of the new construction to ensure a proper fit with the existing structure. The Contractor shall verify all dimensions of the existing structure prior to beginning work. The work to be accomplished using the pay items and corresponding specifications set forth in the contract is to make various repairs to selected existing bridge joints in District 7 along I55 in Lincoln and Pike Counties as detailed in this scope of work. See the following sheets for details. Work on the Project shall consist of the following: 1. The Contractor shall erect and maintain construction signing, provide all signs, set up nighttime lane closures (if needed), and traffic handling devices in accordance with the Traffic Control Plan. The cost for this work shall be included in the price bid for pay item 618-A: Maintenance of Traffic. All traffic control devices on this project should comply with the latest version of the MUTCD. Fluorescent orange sheeting shall be used on all construction and traffic control signs except for those designated in the standards to be black legend and border on white background. 2. All existing joint material from the locations indicated shall be removed and the area prepared and cleaned for construction to the satisfaction of the Engineer. Any specialized, moving, and/or sliding joints are not to fall within the scope of this project. 3. The Contractor shall then make such epoxy repairs as are necessary to restore the existing joint to the proper dimensions or as directed by the Engineer. 4. The Contractor shall then seal each joint with the appropriate type preformed joint sealant material in accordance with the notes and details shown in the Drawings. 5. All bridge caps shall be cleaned as required by Subsection 907-824.03.3. It shall be the responsibility of the Contractor to protect the roadway and all existing structures, such as bridges, culverts, signs, and curbs, from damage occurring as a result of the Contractor's operations. Damages to existing structures caused by the Contractor's operations shall be repaired or replaced at no cost to the Department. Incidental work such as project clean-up and other incidental work necessary to complete the project will not be measured for separate payment. Such costs shall be included in the price of other items bid.
