Site work and renovation of a municipal facility in Freetown, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility; and for site work for a municipal facility.

Project Seeking qualifications, bids, and cost proposals from qualified contractors interested in providing stone foundation repair and repointing for the foundations of the Town Hall, 3 North Main St., Assonet, MA, and Village School House, 5 North Main St., Assonet, MA. Contractor Qualification Required for DCAMM contracts over $150,000, Highway Division contracts over $50,000. The Freetown Town Hall and Village School House have had water coming in through the stone foundation into sections of the basement. There are missing stones, and mortar needs to be redone. The stone foundation needs repointing outside and, in some areas, inside the basement to prevent further water from entering and to stabilize the foundation. The stone foundation repair and repointing contractor shall be expected to perform all services consistent with the standard process of stone foundation repair. In general, they shall include, but shall not necessarily be limited to: • Rebuilding any areas of collapses or loosened stone foundation using a combination of existing stones and newly supplied, matching stones. • Resetting existing stones and repointing the joints where stones are missing, using appropriate materials specified. (See contract specifications) • Placing mortar (re-pointing), joints/voids where mortar has failed. They type of mortar used should be consistent with the Secretary of Interior’s Standards (Type N or O) • Interior work should be done using “chinking”, which connotes the removal and replacement of deteriorated mortar. Chinking may require the insertion of some combination of stone wedges and mortar to stabilize the foundation. It is important in the repointing and repair to consider the structural system of the stone foundation and the features that are important in the overall character of the building. This includes the materials that comprise the structural system including above and below grade stone foundation walls. The work should be done in sections, thereby stabilizing deteriorated or damaged structural systems. Any repairs should be augmenting individual components, using recognized preservation methods for stabilizing.
