Renovation of a municipal facility in Elkton, Maryland. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.

The Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) is seeking bids from prospective Bidders to remove existing courtroom pews/benches and furnish and install new courtroom benches/pews. Location: Cecil County (Elkton)District Court 170 East Main Street. Elkton, MD 21921. The Purchase Order term will be for a period of one (1) year after the date of Purchase Order issuance. Minority Business Enterprises (MBE) and Veteran-owned Small Business Enterprises (VSBE) are encouraged to respond to this Small Procurement. The Successful Bidder shall be responsible for the following: 1. Removing and replacing nineteen (19) courtroom pews/benches in Courtrooms 1 and 2. a. Courtrooms 1 and 2 shall have a Cantilever pew/bench end style and shall match the existing gallery wall colors. (1) Install four (4) additional new benches as layout allows. 2. The following are bench counts with approximate sizes for each Courtroom: a. Courtroom #1: ten (10)-13'6", plus two (2)-13'6" b. Courtroom #2: five (5)-12'6", four (4)-13'6", plus one (1)-12'6" and one (1)-13'6" 3. Pew/Benches/ shall meet the following general requirements: a. All solid wood and veneers shall be from a maintained or sustained forest. 4. Materials: a. Pews/Benches: (1) Solid wood back and seat with wood supports including end panels with solid caps. (2) Benches shall meet the Test Method for Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials ASTM E84. (3) Fabricate per approved shop drawings. (4) Adhesives: Type II (moisture resistant). (5) Particle board components will not be accepted. (6) Back: i Flat full height style. ii Solid wood with a solid wood cap rail. (7) Seat: i Contoured style. ii Solid wood with solid wood edge band and seat rail. (8) Supports: i Solid with solid wood base and front/back edge bands. (9) End Panels: i Custom Design. ii Solid wood with real wood sides, iii Solid wood edge bands, and iv Solid wood caps. (10) All exposed wood shall be: i Type: Oak ii Cut: Flat Cut iii Solid Wood: Premium 1 (11) Continuous length benches over eighteen (18) feet in length, if applicable, must be joined with fully concealed locking mechanical connector with spline or dowel joint alignment. (12) Mechanically fasten to floor with concealed fasteners at each support panel. b. Fabrication: (1) Body Supports: i Exposed edges faced with matching solid stock so that no cross banding is exposed. ii Support shall be attached to seat body by four alternating concealed bolt fasteners. iii Bolt head plugged with Oak buttons. iv Bottom of supports fabricated with provisions for scribing to floor and routed for concealed floor anchorage. v Holes plugged with buttons. vi Maximum spacing shall be 5'-9". c. Finish (1) AWI Finish System #2; Premium Grade: Transparent; factory finish. i Stain: Match existing courtroom Gallery rail finish ii Comply with AWI Section 1500; factory finishing. (2) Coordinate finish and color of stain with existing courtroom Gallery rail finish. 5. Post Award Submittals: a. Samples and Shop Drawings: (1) Finish wood sample: 12" x 12" with factory finish, (2) Shop drawings showing construction and dimensioning. b. Warranty. c. Certification showing source of material (e.g., solid wood and veneers, from a maintained or sustained forest). 6. Pre-Installation Site Inspection: a. Verify suitability of facilities to receive items. b. Notify the Project Manager in writing of conditions detrimental to commencement of installation. 7. Delivery, Storage, and Handling: a. Protect benches/pews during transit, delivery, storage, and handling to prevent damage, soilage, and deterioration. b. Coordinate anchorage items for installation. c. Coordinate for staging and installation of products. 8. Installation: a. Remove and dispose of existing courtroom pews/benches. (1) The Successful Bidder must provide a dumpster if pews/benches are to be discarded on site. b. Obtain and comply with manufacturer/fabricator/installer coordinated advice for optimum temperature and humidity conditions for pews and benches during storage and installation. (1) Install work only when these conditions have been attained and stabilized so that woodwork is within plus or minus 1.0 percent of optimum moisture content from date of installation through remainder of construction period. c. Pews/benches may be assembled at the jobsite. (1) Install pews/benches according to manufacturer's recommendations. (2) Scribe each support to conform to irregularities that may occur in the floor. (3) Each pew/bench end shall be fastened to the floor with two fasteners.(4) All pews/benches shall mechanically fasten to floor with two (2) concealed fasteners at each end support panel. (5) Supports shall be attached to seat with two (2) steel right angle brackets and wood screws. (6) Assemble all structural and stress areas by anchoring steel wood screws into solid Oak. i Wooden plugs to match finish. (7) Obtain all supplementary and miscellaneous items, anchorage, braces, fasteners, and devices incidental to or necessary for a sound and secure installation
