The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) proposes to carry out marine geotechnical investigations. The proposed geotechnical investigations are intended to determine shoreline geotechnical conditions at the proposed site beneath the viaduct structures. This is needed to support design efforts for structural improvements on the Water Street viaducts. Project activities such as boring may encroach into the base floodplain. The encroachments are anticipated to be minor, with no net changes to the base flood elevation, thus they would not result in significant encroachments.
