Site work and paving for a sidewalk / parking lot in Providence, Rhode Island. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.

Roger Wheeler State Beach New Boardwalk And Bulkhead. The existing, approximately 1,7310 ft. long steel sheet pile bulkhead at Roger Wheeler State Beach is in a state of disrepair, developing holes, and rotting at grade in the parking lot. The scope of this project includes designing and installing a new bulkhead retaining wall to protect public safety, improve access, protect the public recreation asset, restore habitat, and create scenic coastal views. Overview: Contractor to provide all labor, materials, and equipment to construct the new concrete boardwalk, in accordance with the contract drawings and specifications listed in the Project Manual. Note, this work will also include the relocation of a municipal waterline in the beach parking lot as part of the boardwalk construction work. 1. Contractor shall perform the Work of the Contract under a stipulated sum Contract with the Owner in accordance with the Conditions of Contract. 2. Vendor is responsible for obtaining and paying for any required Local and State licenses, Permits and inspections. 3. Contractor to include all Bond costs in their Bid. 4. Before starting work, all Contractor workers and Subs are required to obtain and submit a current (within 2 months) BCI of State residing in along with RI BCI and State approved picture ID. 5. All onsite workers are to be OSHA 10 certified. Copies of this certification along with driver licenses are required on the first day of work. 6. The Contractor is responsible for providing their workers with all personal protection equipment. At a minimum, this includes hard hats, reflective vests, eye protection, harnesses and ear protection. 7. All completed work must be inspected and approved by RIDEM and the Design Agent 8. There will be mandatory weekly progress meetings onsite with four week look-ahead schedules to be furnished to RIDEM and Design Agent. 9. Contractor and/or its subcontractors are to be licensed as required by RI Department of Labor. 10. All contractors and subcontractors to sign in each employee at the Vendor site office at the start of each shift. 11. The Successful Bidder is to submit the names and resumes of the onsite supervisors for review and acceptance to work on the project by the RIDEM team. RIDEM reserves the right to reject any proposed onsite supervisors. 12. RIDEM is not responsible for security of materials, tools, etc. 13. Contractor must come to terms with all vendors and subcontractors prior to submitting their bid. 14. All noisy demolition shall be performed between 7:30am and 3:30pm. Roger Wheeler State Beach is named in recognition of Captain Roger W. Wheeler (1907-1969), the creator of the Rhode Island Life-Saving System. It is a popular beach for young children and families due to the gentle surf, playground, and modern beach pavilion with a kid-friendly environmental education area. A new boardwalk is to be constructed on both sides of the pavilion to replace an existing deteriorated steel bulkhead. Start of construction: Within 60 Days of Notice to Proceed Final completion: Within 1 Month of Substantial Completion Liquidated Damages $ 800.00 Per Day DESCRIPTION OF WORK A. General 1. The work covered by this Section, without limiting the generality thereof, consists of furnishing all labor, equipment, and materials, and performing all operations in connection with the furnishing and installing at the locations and to the lines and grades shown on the Drawings, including installation in the sequence required by this specification: 2. Precast-prestressed concrete (PPC) friction piles driven to 35 ft below bottom of pile cap. The PPC piles have been designed to have a vertical compressive capacity of 27 kips and a lateral capacity of 55 psf, applied at the top of the pile. 3. A single or double acting steam, diesel, or air hammer with a minimum of 15,000 ft-lbs of energy delivered to the top of the pile, shall be utilized to continuously drive the pile, using fixed leads. 4. Conducting computer wave equation analyses by WEAP (Wave Equation Analyses for Piles) as required herein prior to mobilization to determine end bearing driving criteria for each type of pile and their ultimate capacities and to demonstrate that the compressive and tensile stresses experienced in the piles with the proposed hammerpile-soil systems will not exceed the maximum allowable values in the pile during driving. 5. The Contractor shall submit for approval the proposed final driving criteria and methods and equipment for installing production piles. 6. Provide reinforcing steel or other connection as shown on the Drawings to connect piles to cast-in-place concrete beams and pile caps. 7. Pile splices shall not be allowed. 8. The Contractor may elect to perform near surface pre-excavation and/or probing or spudding through the entire fill thickness at pilelocations. 9. The Contractor shall manage any soil, fill, drilling fluids or muds in accordance with Section 10. Provide and maintain survey control for layout of design pile locations, pile heave measurement, preparation of as-built sketches, and related survey controlwork. 11. Perform and sequence work, and maintain equipment in good condition to minimize noise and vibration caused by pile installationactivities.
