Remodeling of a fire / police facility in Lockhart, Texas. Completed plans call for the remodel of a fire / police facility.
Originally built in 1914 as the City of Lockhart's first City Hall and Fire station, Lockhart's Fire Station #1 has been in nearly continuous use as an operating fire station as well as housing a variety of other purposes, including a jail, police department, and municipal court. Some modifications have necessarily been made over the years but without significant impact on the actual structure. The building is now and has been for some time, used entirely for Fire Department purposes. The scope of the project is a significant interior remodel of the existing building with a focus on life safety, electrical upgrades, and improvement to the living areas for the firefighters. Project Location: 201 W Market St, Lockhart, Texas Project Specifics - Scope of Work: Base Scope: Installation of a full automatic fire suppression system (sprinklers), fire/smoke notification system. Deisel Exhaust system for noxious gases in the apparatus bays. Enhanced fire/smoke protection on the ceilings and stair walls of the first level. Enhanced emergency exiting from the second level. Living and working quarters renovations includes upgrade both restrooms up and down, and upstairs fully renovated kitchen, sleeping quarters, most ceilings and floor finishes. Upgrades to hazardous electrical panels and switchgear. Enhanced fire/smoke barrier between Apparatus Bays and sleeping areas above. Enhanced emergency exiting from second floor. Enhanced Living and working quarters for Firefighters. Restroom on first floor renovated including exhaust air vent, reduced tripping hazard. Restroom on second floor completely renovated with new expanded shower, new finishes. Kitchen: replace cabinets, appliances and reorganize for better utilization. Relocate existing furnace #2 to above ceiling and new ductwork throughout that system. Remodel one room bunk style sleeping quarters to three separate rooms. New ceilings and LED lights throughout new ceiling areas. New floor finishes. Re-pointing of some brick masonry. New Overhead Doors New Exterior Signage Add Alternate Scope: Re-glazing and painting the exterior of all existing windows. Repainting of all exterior doors and woodwork, including the cornice. Work to be completed under separate contract: Interior Asbestos remediation. Total Construction Budget is approximately $673,000.
