The primary objective of the County's OSSF is to provide adequate, safe, and sanitary sewer services for Colonia residents through the installation of approved residential OSSFs for single family, owneroccupied dwellings in compliance with rules of the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Webb County's OSSF will help families located in designated colonial in Webb County, Texas. All Colonias in Webb County lack potable water and sewer infrastructure. This is not only an inconvenience for the residents but is a major public health issue. Most Colonias do not have access to a conventional sewer system and must rely on septic tanks, pit privies (Outhouse), and cesspools. Additionally, drainage in these areas is likely to be poor and if septic systems overflow, these colonias were not developed with proper infrastructure and were sold without electricity, water and sewer. This project will provide qualified households with septic systems to residents of colonias in Webb County. Residents that live within the floodplain will not be eligible for assistance.
