Request for Proposal (RFP): Paving Project for Bills Road in Wardsboro, Vermont Project Overview: The Town of Wardsboro, Vermont, is seeking proposals from qualified paving contractors for the resurfacing and paving of Bills Road. The project involves grinding the existing road surface and applying virgin asphalt to provide a smooth, durable, and long-lasting roadway for residents and visitors. The objective is to improve the safety, functionality, and drainage of Bills rd. Project Scope: 1. Road Grinding: The contractor shall perform milling or grinding of the existing road surface to full depth (approx. .20 miles), ensuring the removal of deteriorated asphalt and preparing a smooth base for the new pavement. 2. Paving with Virgin Asphalt: The contractor shall pave 2.5" (type 2 base) and 1.5" top (type 4 asphalt) and will not use any recycled asphalt products. 3. Shouldering the road: The contractor will apply shoulder material 1' wide by 4" deep both sides of the road for a total of .2 miles 4. Surface Preparation: Proper surface preparation, including grading and compacting shall be conducted prior to asphalt application to ensure optimal and performance. 5. Quality Assurance: The contractor shall adhere to industry best practices and quality standards throughout all phases of the project, including material selection, mixing, and application. 6. Traffic Control: The contractor shall implement appropriate traffic control measures to minimize disruptions to residents, businesses, and motorists during construction. Temporary road closures, detours, and signage may be necessary. 7. Project Timeline: The proposed timeline for the project, including start date, completion date, and key milestones, shall be included in the proposal. 8. Environmental Compliance: The contractor shall comply with all relevant environmental regulations and guidelines, including proper disposal of waste materials and protection of surrounding natural resources. 9. Communication and Coordination: The contractor shall maintain open communication with the Town of Wardsboro and provide regular updates on project progress, issues, and any deviations from the proposed plan.
