The Province is seeking a Contractor to develop the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) Wildfire Risk Reduction (WRR) Plan, for the Northeast Region, which supports a chain of corporate and ministerial goals, action and service plans and addresses the importance of reducing wildfire risk, responding to natural hazards, and improving community resilience. To effectively reduce wildfire risk, the Province must determine and prioritize target areas for fuel management treatments. This includes the identification and prioritization of planning and fuel management units on Crown land in adherence with BC Wildfire Service guidance and standards to implement a cost-effective and appropriate operational strategy to reduce wildfire in high-risk areas within the landscapes of the Northeast Region of BC. The purpose of this work is to develop an approach to support the Wildfire Risk Reduction Program in the Northeast Region that will: 1) assess high wildfire risk areas of Crown Land, 2) identify and prioritize implementable treatment units, and 3) recommend prescription treatment options.
