Demolition, site work and new construction of a civil project in Topsfield, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the demolition of a water / sewer project; for the construction of a water / sewer project; and for site work for a water / sewer project.

As of August 5, 2024, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for the award has not yet been established. A tank replacement including construction of a new 800,000-gallon pre-stressed wire wound concrete water storage tank to be located on the existing Department of Public Works property. The project includes, site work, site utility upgrades, installation of an active tank mixer, new instrumentation and radio equipment, electrical upgrades, relocation of existing 8-inch ductile iron water mains, and installation of approximately 750 LF of new 12-inch ductile iron water main. The project also includes demolition of the existing 500,000 gallon pre-stressed concrete storage tank, piping, and appurtenances on the adjacent tank site as a bid alternate. Estimated Cost $3,100,000. Required for DCAMM contracts over $150,000, Highway Division contracts over $50,000.\ DESCRIPTION: A. Location: The Work locations include, but are not limited to, locations within the municipal owned property in the Town of Topsfield, MA. B. Work Included: The Work includes, but is not limited to, the following: 1. Construction of: a. b. c. d. e. f. g. h. 2. A 800,000-gallon, pre-stressed concrete drinking water storage tank and appurtenances including piping, sitework, equipment systems, instrumentation and electrical systems as indicated on the Drawings Altitude valve with concrete vault Mixing system Water mains, hydrants, and valves Disinfection/testing of drinking water storage tank, water mains and appurtenances Control and Electrical upgrades Site utilities, earthwork, grading. Drainage systems, rip rap, drain pipe and appurtenances Alternate A: Demolition of: a. Existing 500,000 gallon, 60-foot diameter, 25 -foot height, partially buried, pre-stressed concrete water storage tank, tank foundation, tank appurtenances, tank piping, tank mixing system and associated piping onsite. b. c. d. e. f. g. h. 3. 4. including piping, telemetry vault and appurtenances and associated instrumentation and electrical systems, as indicated on Drawings. Salvage existing concrete vault, 12-inch gate valves, 12-inch piping, drain, appurtenances in the vault. Remove and save existing 12-inch altitude valve and deliver/store for the Owner. Install automatic air release valve and spool pipe in vault. Removal and disposal or abandonment of existing water mains Install/compact select fill, loam and seed to the existing lines and grades onsite. Site grading and drainage systems Testing of tank and water main for proper installation and performance. All related site work including trench excavation, ledge excavation, groundwater dewatering, disposal of excess excavated materials, filter fabric, bedding, backfill, compaction, road/drive subbase, paving, loam/seed and landscaping. 5. Other miscellaneous work shown in the Specifications for a complete and operational system. C. Removals, Relocations and Rearrangements Examine the existing site for the work of all trades which will influence the cost of the work under the bid. This work shall include removals, relocations and rearrangements which may interfere with, disturb or complicate the performance of the work under the general bid involving systems, equipment and related service lines, which shall continue to be utilized as part of the finished project. The Contractor is responsible for all coordination in this regard. 2. 3. 1.2 Provide in the bid a sufficient amount to include all removals, relocations, rearrangements and reconnections herein specified, necessary or required to provide approved operation and coordination of the combined new and existing systems and equipment. Provide in the bid a sufficient amount to include all temporary facilities required to maintain flows during the construction period, including bypass pumping, temporary piping, temporary metering, etc. The cost shall include the cost for all labor, tools, equipment and materials necessary.
