The proposed project is to construct a new headworks facility for the City of Astoria's 3-cell stabilization lagoon wastewater treatment plant. The work will include construction of a cast-in-place headworks structure with two (2) mechanical bar screens, one (1) manual bar screen, and a grit removal system. The grit system consists of a vortex style grit removal unit which includes a vacuum grit pump, and grit washer. Grating, stairways and handrails will be constructed around the new headworks structure. Other improvements included in the work include installation of new 30-inch ductile iron piping, metering, and valve vaults. Hot tapping, line stopping and temporary bypassing will be required on an existing 30-inch concrete cylinder pipe which conveys sewage into the plant and cannot be shut down. Site improvements will include installation of miscellaneous stormwater and water piping and appurtenances, site grading and drainage work, asphalt paving, and reinforced concrete slabs. Additionally, sludge from two cells of the existing plant will be removed and relocated to the remaining cell, and new baffle curtains will be installed in the cells that have been cleared of sludge. Electrical work will include power and controls to the new headworks mechanical systems, metering vault, and the relocation of 4 existing aerators. A new standby generator and automatic transfer switch will also be provided and installed by the Contractor. One existing PLC will be replaced with new equipment and software and a remote rack will be added. All bids must be accompanied by a certified check, a cashier's check or bid bond in an amount equal to at least 5% of the total bid. Est.
