The Town estimates that its needs in the contract period will be in the order of plus or minus 9,000 tons of Hot Mix Asphalt, In-Place and, plus or minus 50,000 square yards of Excavation of Hot Mix Asphalt by Cold Planer and plus or minus 2,200 linear feet of HMA berm but the obligation incurred by the acceptance of any bid is limited to the purchase of the Town's actual requirements. The TOWN makes no guarantee to purchase any minimum or a specific quantity of goods or services under the provisions of this contract. Purchases will be authorized by individual orders issued by the Department of Public Works or other Town departments from time to time during the contract period. This work shall be performed at multiple municipal roadway locations situation throughout the Town. The preparation for this work shall be performed by the Town of Wellesley Highway Division and/or under a separate contract(s), therefore the scheduling of this work shall be at the discretion of the Director of Public Works, or a Designated Agent. The intent is to ensure that the work under this contract follows closely behind the aforementioned preparation process. The successful bidder must be ready, willing and able to accommodate the Town in the scheduling of this work. Items I & II - In-Place HMA Bid price shall include all charges for the purchase and delivery of the material and its application by a selfpropelled unit, which will spread and initially compact the material to the desired depth. The bid price will also include the cost of final compaction with a 10-12 ton roller, spreading a tack coat of RS#1, evenly distributed by a mechanical applicator (not by hand), and sealing with an emulsion at each intersection, driveway, and terminus and at the beginning of the application. Such sealing shall be done prior to beginning the next day's work. The Hot Mix Asphalt shall be applied at various thicknesses as directed by the Town. This material is to be laid over a base shaped and leveled by others or as a part of this contract, and any changes in the elevation of a manhole or catch basin frames to be done by others. The estimated number of watergate box tops to be adjusted to the required grade in the paving program is plus or minus 100. Most of these water gate box tops shall be adjusted to required grades by others. However, certain water gate box tops cannot be adjusted to required grade and held in position for a prolonged period of time, and must be adjusted and securely held in place by the Contractor at the time of paving operations. If extenders are required in order to adjust these certain water gate box tops to grade, the extenders will be supplied by the Town of Wellesley. There will be no additional payment for the adjusting and holding in place of these certain water gate box tops. This bid invitation contemplates the use of the materials, identified in the Proposal Form set forth elsewhere in these specifications. Items III & IV - Cold Planing Bid price shall include all charges for all necessary construction processes that would be required for cold planning profiling of hot mix asphalt surfaces of road in various locations in the Town of Wellesley. This includes all labor, equipment, and materials required for the removal and immediate off-site disposal of 1- 1/2" to 2" of HMA by cold planning methods. Quantities shown on Bid Form are estimated for bid purposes only. These quantities may vary and be placed in various locations throughout the Town. Final quantity and location of work will be determined in the best interest of the Town. Not all roadways to be paved will require cold planning. All unit prices in this Bid Form shall be deemed as complete and final payment regardless of variation in quantity or location. The Contractor shall be responsible for the immediate removal of the material from the Town unless otherwise negotiated with the Town. Item V - Berm Bid price shall include all charges for all necessary construction processes that would be required for installing new hot mix asphalt berm MassDOT Type 2, which conforms to the relevant provisions of the MassDOT Standard Specifications and Material Specifications for Item 470. This includes all labor, equipment, and materials required. Quantities shown on Bid Form are estimated for bid purposes only. Asphalt berm shall be placed where and when directed by the Town. These quantities may vary and be placed in various locations throughout the Town. Final quantity and location of work will be determined in the best interest of the Town. Not all roadways to be paved will new asphalt berm. This item also does NOT include this installation of monolithic berm placed with the paving machine. All unit prices in this Bid Form shall be deemed as complete and final payment regardless of variation in quantity or location.
