Officials in Mendham Borough posted information about a milling and paving project that will begin Monday. Milling is scheduled to begin June 10 along Bliss Road and Pleasant Valley Road, and continue until Wednesday (weather permitting). Paving work is scheduled to begin shortly thereafter, officials added. Construction work normally begins at 7 a.m. One lane of traffic will be maintained through the construction, though there may be instances throughout the day when a street will need to be closed. The borough's Department of Public Works will try to keep travel disruptions to a minimum, officials said. This project is part of the 2024 Mendham Borough Capital Improvement Program for local streets and roads. If you need to enter or exit your driveway or neighborhood and the construction crew is present, please wait for either a Riverview Paving employee or a DPW employee to assist you. One lane of traffic will be maintained throughout the construction. There may be instances throughout the day when the need arises to block the street for short periods of time. These will be kept to a minimum. After milling has taken place, please be aware that manholes, water shut offs and storm water basins will be exposed. We will paint and place cones in these locations. Please slow down and go around the cones. Your street will be milled for a few days before being paved. The paving crew can only work in dry weather. Any trees in conflict with construction shall be removed only when approved by the Engineer. Clearing Site shall also include the removal and resetting of any mailboxes, fences, curbing, utility service of other item which conflicts with construction whether or not it has been designated to be removed or reset in the plans. The Contractor is encouraged to walk the site to make his/her own determination of the items, which conflict with construction, which must be removed and/or reset. No additional payment will be given for items removed or reset by the Contractor during the course of construction, which have not been identified in the plans. Clearing site also includes meeting FRA 213, 213.37, AASHTO, and MUTCD line of sight requirements at road crossings and obstructions of signage. Trees and brush should be cleared within the railroad right of way to a point 250' in each direction from any railroad crossing.
