Renovation of a retail development in West Lafayette, Indiana. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a retail development.

The proposed project includes the strategic redesign of the South Street Plaza with a focus on the historical structures and spaces within the area. Currently, South Street Plaza is a poorly functioning parking area with large amounts of foot traffic. The plaza ends at the intersection of State Street and Northwestern Avenue, where shoppers and students alike often que at the pedestrian crosswalks. An emphasis on pedestrian accessibility, outdoor seating, and landscape elements is requested, as well as a focus on the surrounding historic infrastructure of the plaza. The physical limits of the project include the South Street Right of Way from the western curb of Chauncey Avenue and the Eastern curb of Northwestern Avenue. The north/south bounds of the project will be determined by private property lines. The existing parking spaces on South Street will be removed with this redesign. Schedule: The design services will commence in July upon the acceptance of a proposal. The design and financial impact should be completed by the end of 2024 The City of West Lafayette reserves the right to negotiate further with one or more respondents.
