Saving Project...

Site work and paving for a road / highway in Springfield Township, Ohio. Design plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.

https://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2024/08/14/great-parks-input-west-region-blueway-bike-trail.html Great Parks of Hamilton County is considering how to build a new 25-mile pedestrian/bicycle trail that would connect together the western part of Hamilton County, a place where there is a dearth of such infrastructure. It's calling the project the West Region Blueway and Trail System. The trail would connect the Ohio River and run near the Great Miami River, as well as four of the county's parks, Miami Whitewater Forest, Oak Glen Preserve, Mitchell Memorial Forest and Shawnee Lookout. Through Sept. 1, citizens can attend a virtual open house to share their thoughts on the trail and its potential alignment on the Great Parks website. The park system already has discussed the plan with local residents, municipal leaders, businesses, interest groups and other stakeholders. "The community prioritized building more trails through the development of our comprehensive master plan, and Great Parks is working to honor that priority," Great Parks CEO Todd Palmeter said in a news release. "Now that we can share a proposed alignment, we're eager to continue these discussions to move closer to a final plan for the trail." Great Parks also is expanding peoples' ability to use the rivers, including new watercraft launch sites for paddling adventures along the Great Miami and the Whitewater River. The trail will start along the Hamilton-Butler county border near Fairfield and run along the Great Miami River south to the Ohio River. It is an extension of the 99-mile Great Miami River Trail. The trail generally will be paved and separate from roadways. The trail's master plan will be completed in 2024, with construction coming in phases, based on funding availability and site control. Such trails can take a decade or more to complete. The costs are unclear. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As of May 17, 2024, an engineer has been selected and this project is in the design phase. It is anticipate to start construction in spring 2025. The new trail will extend the West Fork Mill Creek Greenway Trail that currently travels through Wyoming, Woodlawn, and Glenwood Gardens to connect with the Harbor Loop Trail in Winton Woods. The trail will link other trails, neighborhoods, parks, shopping, schools, and community resources from Springfield Township and Greenhills to Woodlawn and Wyoming, including parks, schools and shopping in between. Once complete, the trail network in this area will offer more than nine miles of continuous shared-use paths built for exercise, recreation, and vehicle-free travel away from busy local roadways. Guests can choose between more routes of different lengths and more experiences that flow from gardens and prairies to wetlands, forests and lakes.
