The work will consist of installation and operation of a soil vapor extraction system. Project Scope of Work: The intent of the work will be to extract and treat vapors with elevated concentrations of contaminants in site soils beneath the 2 West Michigan Avenue building and the parking lot east of 24 North Huron Street by extracting and venting soil vapor to the atmosphere in a manner consistent with all applicable codes. A conceptual layout of the soil vapor extraction (SVE) system is depicted on Drawing 3. It consists of two (2) interior vertical extraction wells connected to conveyance piping that will run underground to the exterior of the building and connect with the conveyance piping running from one (1) horizontal extraction well. The conveyance piping from all three (3) locations is then connected in a contained treatment trailer consisting of a moisture separator, blower, and carbon vessels. Exhaust from the treatment trailer will vent to the atmosphere, in a manner consistent with all applicable codes. The work elements include: o Coring the floor slab at two (2) locations and installing one (1) vertical SVE wells at each location for a total of two (2) vertical SVE wells; o Routing the extraction piping via trenching in the existing concrete slab and adjacent exterior pavement to the treatment trailer for discharge; o Installing one (1) horizontal SVE well and routing the extraction piping to the treatment trailer for discharge; o Providing power to the treatment trailer; and o Restoring the interior and exterior work areas
