The City of Waterville is requesting bids for the City Hall Exterior Trim and Railing Painting Project. RFP questions must be submitted to Andrew J. McPherson, City Engineer at amcpherson@waterville-me.gov. General Description
The contractor will prep and paint all wood molding and trim including the decorative cornice
molding along the roof line, the horizontal ledger molding below the cornice molding, the
decorative wood columns on the south side of City Hall, wood railings on the west side, all wood
trim around the doors and windows, and any miscellaneous exterior wood blocking and
plywood. Painting of vinyl windows and trim is not included. Also included in this RFP is the prep
and painting of all black metal hand and porch railings around City Hall and the black metal light
fixtures above the west side entrance. Scope of work
1. Woodwork.
a. Protect all adjacent areas from cleaning debris and paint drips.
b. Scrape and remove all loose paint.
c. Lightly sand all wood to feather out the ridges between existing adhered paint and
bare wood.
d. Clean all wood surfaces with an approved cleaning solution.
e. Caulk all seams between wood and adjacent roof and siding materials.
f. Paint all wood surfaces with 2 coats of Sherwin Williams multi-surface acrylic paint
or approved equal.
2. Metal work
a. Protect all adjacent areas from cleaning debris and paint drips.
b. Scrape and remove all loose paint and rust from metal.
c. Lightly sand all metal to receive paint to feather out ridges between existing adhered
paint and clean metal, and to remove any remaining adhered rust.
d. Clean all metal surfaces with an approved cleaning solution.
e. Paint all metal surfaces with 2 coats of Sherwin Williams multi-surface acrylic paint
or approved equal.
