Site work for a mixed-use development in Madison, Alabama. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.
This project consists of a 1230 lf design/build retaining wall, with an 11' average height of visible wall face along the south side of Mill Road to stabilize the north creek bank of Mill Creek from the first residential drive over Mill Creek east of Balch Road to the bridge on Mill Road over Mill Creek east of Mill Park Lane. The project will include the temporary rerouting of Mill Road onto the walking path, which will require improving, widening, and restoration after the project is complete. All traffic control and rerouting will be per MUTCD guidelines. All Design/Build wall types will require preapproval prior to bid submission. The wall should be permanent in nature, designed for a 25 year or more life span, and be suited for the varying flows of Mill Creek along with the velocities (minimum design standard of 11 ft/sec) associated with larger rain events. Reinforced earthen slopes, gabion baskets, or other similar type walls will not be acceptable. The wall should be designed to accommodate guard rail, which is included in the scope, along the entire length. The bidder will be responsible for providing a fully engineered retaining wall that is designed and stamped by a professional engineer licensed in the State of Alabama. This design will be provided to the owner for review and approval after award and before mobilization. This scope is considered to be "Base Bid" and will have a completion duration of 150 calendar days. The project also includes "Additive Alternate 1" for slope preparation and installation of about 25,000 sf of PYRAMAT 75 High Performance Turf Reinforcement Mat, or equal, on the south side of Mill Creek within the above-described area, with the same velocity parameters. The contractor should assume a start date of September 1, 2024, for "Additive Alternate 1" with a completion timeframe of 120 calendar days. Working days/hours are Monday- Friday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Any bid submitted with a wall plan that has not been pre-approved will be deemed non-responsive. To be eligible for award, submitted bids must be completed on original bid forms provided in the bid packet and may not be faxed or emailed. No pre-qualification is required for this project. Each bidder is responsible for mailing or hand delivering its bid so that it will be received at the above address at or before the time of the specified bid opening; bids received after that time will not be considered.
