Firms that wish to bid on these projects as the prime contractor must be prequalified prior to submitting your bid. Firms that wish to perform as a subcontractor to the prime contractor must be prequalified prior to beginning work on the project. Before installing the joint seal, check the uninstalled seal length to ensure the seal is the same length as the deck opening. When the joint seal requires splicing, use the heat welding method by placing the joint material ends against a Teflon heating iron of 425-475 degree F for 7 - 10 seconds, then pressing the ends together tightly. Do not test the welding until the material has completely cooled.
