Site work and paving for a road / highway in Carrboro, North Carolina. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
** As of June 25, 2024 this project has been awarded to RDU Paving with an awarded amount of $44,004.04.** ids will be received for a Unit Price General Construction Contract. The Contractor and all Subcontractors shall have valid North Carolina General Contractor's Licenses for the type and value of the work to be performed. The Project consists of furnishing all materials, labor, equipment, tools, etc. unless otherwise specified, for the complete and operable installation of: 780 linear feet of 1.5-inch asphalt pavement overlay over existing pavement and reconstruct 70 linear feet of the existing 12-foot wide Nunn Mountain access Road. The foregoing description shall not be construed as a complete description of all work required. Orange Water and Sewer Authority has adopted a minimum ten (10%) percent goal for participation by minority businesses in the total value of the work for this project in accordance with Section 143-128.2 of the General Statutes of North Carolina. Each Bidder shall be licensed under Chapter 87 of the North Carolina General Statutes. Bidders are notified that "An Act to Regulate the Practice of General Contracting," was ratified by the General Assembly of North Carolina on March 10, 1925, and that this Act and subsequent Amendments, will be observed in receiving and awarding Contracts. Each bidder is required to submit a Non-Collusion Affidavit pursuant to Section 133-30 of the General Statutes of North Carolina. To ensure that all Bidders are kept up to date on any Addenda, changes, or information notices, please send an e-mail to Darren Berger ( dberger@owasa.org) indicating your intention to prepare a Bid for the Project. Failure to complete this step may render your Bid as non- responsive. Each Bidder is advised that the Work may be inspected and supervised by OWASA or firm under the direction of OWASA. OWASA or the firm will be involved in the identification of specific repair areas and the proposed method of repairs for the Work. OWASA requires the Project to be fully complete by June 30, 2024. Bids shall be submitted under a condition of irrevocability, except as required by law, for a period of ninety (90) calendar days after the Bid opening. OWASA reserves the right to accept or reject any or all Bids, to waive any and all informalities, and to disregard all nonconforming or conditional Bids or counter Bids, and to accept the Bid that will be in the best interest of OWASA. General description of the work: Sawcut, selectively demolish, and reconstruct the Section of the existing roadway between station 03+97 And 04+67. Reconstruction shall include removal and Disposal of the existing asphalt and base/subgrade Material to the depths shown in section a. Prepare existing subgrade and provide woven Geotextile, compacted aggregate base course (abc), And intermediate asphalt course as indicated in section A. Top of new intermediate asphalt course shall match Top of existing pavement. Apply tack coat to entire Thickness/vertical edge of sawcut interface with Existing pavement. Prepare the existing pavement for overlay by sweeping Or washing using a minimum of two passes to remove Dirt and dust. If surface is washed, allow pavement to Dry prior to paving. Prior to overlay, provide a tack coat over the entire Surface to be overlayed at a target application rate of 0.06 (+/- 0.01) gal/sy emulsified asphalt. Overlay the roadway between station 00+00 and 07+80, Including the reconstructed section. The final grade shall be 1.5 inches higher than existing. The base file for existing condition for the access road Is a copy of 1976 as-built drawings. Contractor to Notify owasa if actual conditions are substantially Different. Prior to demolition for reconstruction, confirm the Depth of the existing 24-inch diameter ductile iron Water main. Record drawings indicate the pipe has 3 feet Of cover, but actual conditions may be shallower. If Less than 3 feet of cover observed, notify owasa prior To proceeding. Provide all work and materials in accordance with the North carolina department of transportation (ncdot) "Standard specifications for roads and structures" (january 2018) and applicable town of chapel hill Requirements. The existence, size, and/or location of existing utilities Has not been verified. Prior to any excavation, Contractor shall contact "Nc811" and provide a copy of The ticket to owasa as evidence. All disturbed areas not receiving a hard surface shall Be restored to existing condition and seeded. Contractor shall be responsible for implementing and Maintaining erosion control devices during Construction in accordance with applicable town of Chapel hill and state of north carolina requirements. Contractor shall take all other measures to positively Preclude erosion materials from leaving the site. Characterize and dispose of all construction waste And excess materials offsite at a permitted disposal Site in accordance with state of north carolina Requirements. Limit of work shall be restricted to within the existing 60 foot right of way. Provide traffic controls in accordance with manual on Traffic control devices (mutcd), latest edition and Town of chapel hill requirements.
