Site work for a water / sewer project in Skiatook, Oklahoma. Conceptual plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
Skiatook dam is located at river mile 14.3 on Hominy Creek, a tributary of Bird Creek in the Verdigris River Basin. The dam is located about 5 miles west of Skiatook in Osage County, and about 18 miles northwest of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The spillway is uncontrolled type and is located in the right abutment. The outlet works include a gate tower with selective intakes and 10.5 feet conduit tunneled through the right abutment (Figure 1). There are two 4.67 feet by 10.5 feet gates in the conduit. In addition, there is 3.17 feet by 6.125 feet low flow sluice gate and a 36-inch dimeter water supply pipe in the outlet works. The outlet works have a design capacity of 4,400 cfs. Scope of Work: The tentative Base Bid work includes the following: 1. Remove existing ladder in the north and south wet well. 2. Remove and dispose existing low flow gate. Design, construct, and install new Low Flow Gate and appurtenances. 3. Replacement gate for low flow gate must be fabricated from A709 structural steel. Gate design is to be in accordance with Engineering Manuals (EMs), Engineering Regulations (ERs) and Engineer Technical Letters (ETLs) as per USACE Criteria and Industry standards, and UFGS technical specifications. Constraint: Bridge crane cannot access the cylinder and bonnet of the low flow gate during the construction. The existing cylinder of the service gate next to it may have to be removed temporarily to provide access to the cylinder of the low flow gate. This will enable removal of the existing low flow gate and lowering the new low flow gate to the lower floor level where the gate cylinders are located. A portable crane may also be required to accomplish this task. The tentative Options includes the following: 1. OPTION 1 The Contractor is to inspect all gate thimbles and gate thimble anchorages for cracks, damage and integrity of attachment of gate thimbles to concrete. Repairs must be made by the Contractor as deemed necessary, and as approved by the Contracting Officer (CO). Remove, design and replace top 1 and 2 (two) inlet sluice gates in north wet well (2 gates total). This includes removal and replacement of slide gate, gate frame, stems, stem guides, guide supports, operators, and all appurtenances, as recommended by the gate manufacturer. The new gate operators must be power operated types. The replaced gates must be ductile cast iron gates. Cost of disposal of existing gates and appurtenances is included in the unit cost of CLIN items. 2. OPTION 2 Design, Remove and replace bottom 3 and 4 (two) inlet slide gates in north wet wells for a total of two gates. This includes removal, design and replacement of slide gate, gate frame, stems, stem guide, guide supports, operators and all appurtenances, as recommended by the gate manufacturer. The replaced gates must be ductile cast iron gates. Cost of disposal of existing gates and appurtenances is included in the unit cost of CLIN items. 3. OPTION 3 Remove and replace top 1 and 2 (two) inlet slide gates in south wet wells for a total of two gates. 4. OPTION 4 Remove and replace bottom 3 and 4 (two) inlet slide gates in south wet wells for a total of two gates. 5. OPTION 5 Remove and replace wet well low flow outlet gate in north wet well. This includes removal, design and replacement of slide gate, gate frame, stems, stem guide, guide supports, operators and all appurtenances, as recommended by the gate manufacturer. The replaced gates must either be ductile cast iron gates or fabricated from A709 structural steel. Cost of disposal of existing gates and appurtenances is included in the unit cost of CLIN items. Cost of disposal of existing gates and appurtenances is included in the unit cost of CLIN items. 6. OPTION 6 Remove and replace wet well low flow outlet gate in south wet well. In accordance with FAR 36.204, the estimated magnitude of construction for this project is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000 The Method of Contractor Selection has not been determined at this Time. *The value for this project is based on a financial range.
