Bids are invited upon the work as follows: The work under this contract includes construction of approximately 3,600 lineal feet of 24-foot wide asphalt roadway, with a 4-foot aggregate shoulder, along Poor Farm Hollow Road, west from its intersection with Illinois Highway 100 to the Western edge of the Calhoun County Elementary School property. The project will include associated regrading of ditches and replacement of existing culverts under the roadway and at driveway entrances. Other associated work includes seeding, erosion control, and rock riprap lining of roadway ditches and culvert outlets. A certified check or bank draft, payable to the order of County of Calhoun, negotiable U.S. Government bonds (at par value) or a satisfactory Bid Bond executed by the Bidder and an acceptable surety in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total Bid shall be submitted with each Bid. This project is funded in whole or in part with grant funds from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. Attention is called to the fact that 1) not less than the Federal prevailing wages as set forth in the Contract Documents must be paid on this project; 2) The work to be performed under this contract is subject to the requirements of Section 3, 24 CFR Part 75; and 3) The Contractor must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of their race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. Bidders must not be excluded from participation in any federal assistance program [24 CFR 85, Subpart C 85.35; 2 CFR 200,214]. The County of Calhoun reserves the right to reject any or all Bids or to any waive informalities in the bidding. Bids may be held by the County of Calhoun for a period not to exceed 30 days from the date of the opening of Bids for the purpose of reviewing the Bids and investigating the qualifications of Bidders, prior to awarding of the Contract. MBE (11.4%), WBE (6.9%) Hot-Mix Asphalt Surface Course & Aggregate Shoulders shall be completed by August 10, 2024 and entire project shall be completed by October 10, 2024
