Water management, under this design, occurs incrementally through trail contours, dips, and cross slopes. Proposed trail enhancements follow natural trail design and construction techniques, utilizing rock and soil from the site for recontouring. Steeper slopes will feature naturally shaped switchbacks anchored and edged with a combination of large, introduced rock and native rock found on site. The proposed stormwater infrastructure is integrated into the trail itself, treating each segment as a mini-watershed. Outsloped trails prevent water accumulation and erosion by gradually moving water from the footpath, thereby avoiding volume accumulation that leads to erosion. The project involves reforming trails to incorporate water control features like grade reversals, spillways, and out slopes. Details on how and where to install water features are provided within this solicitation as prescriptions. Heavy machinery operation experience in urban settings is necessary for this project.
