The City of Port Lavaca invites area artists to apply for a public art project to create a crosswalk mural on the concrete traffic table entrance to Bayfront Park. We are looking for a design that will serve as a "photo op" for locals and tourists and will depict the characteristics of the Bayfront Park as described in the 2023 Port Lavaca Downtown Waterfront Master Plan (Bayfront Park Commons and Bayfront Park Pier). It is expected that the successful design will creatively incorporate the orange and blue colors of these sub-areas of the Master Plan. The City will provide all paint and materials needed and is currently working to prpare specifications for the paint that will used. An addendum will be issued in June with this information. The pavement surface to be painted is concrete and measures approximately 28.3' long x 10.0' wide and is centered in this traffic table located at the entrance to the Bayfront Park, as a "raised crosswalk". Installation: The successful artist will have access to one-half of the length of the crosswalk at a time for planning and painting, such that one lane of the entrance to the park remains open at all times. The City will provide barricades and traffic cones to direct traffic around the painting operations. Description of the mural design color palette, technique.
