Additional improvements include complete traffic signal replacement, adding new mast arms with one signal head per lane with visors and reflective backplating at each leg, as well as pedestrian countdown timers and pushbutton at crosswalk termini. Installation of reflective pavement markings, ADA compliant ramps with detectable warnings, and Accessible Pedestrian Signal (APS) features will be constructed. The improvements at Ridgeland Avenue and 143rd Street intersection include complete removal of the existing corrugated and mountable median and replacement with P.C.C. pavement. Revised pavement markings to provide an additional 190 feet of storage length will be provided to the eastbound left turn lane, and an additional 90 feet will be provided to the northbound left turn lane. Additional improvements include traffic signal replacement, adding new mast arms with one signal head per lane and larger 12-inch LED lenses with visors and reflective backplating at each leg, as well as pedestrian countdown timers and pushbutton at crosswalk termini, traffic signal interconnect, installation of lighting at the intersection, installation of advance warning signs for the traffic signal, new illuminated street name signs, and new highly reflective pavement markings. ADA compliant ramps with detectable warnings will be constructed. The improvements at Kedzie Avenue and 175th Street intersection include the removal of the existing corrugated and mountable median and replacement of PCC pavement. This would convert the existing 4- foot mountable median to a 3-foot flush median. This will require the lane width on all approaches to have outside lanes be 12 feet wide, inside lanes will be 11 feet wide, and left turn lanes will be 10 feet wide. An additional 150 feet will be added to the southbound left turn lane to account for long vehicle queues, resulting in 340 feet of storage length for this movement. Additional improvements include complete traffic signal replacement to meet current standards, adding new mast arms with one signal head per lane and larger 12-inch LED lenses with visors and reflective backplating at each leg, and pedestrian countdown timers and pushbuttons at crosswalk termini, installation of lighting at the intersection, installation of advance warning signs for the traffic signal, new illuminated street name signs, and new highly reflective pavement markings. ADA compliant ramps with detectable warnings, and Accessible Pedestrian Signal (APS) features will be constructed. Each bid shall be accompanied by a bid bond on the Department form contained in the bid document, executed by a corporate surety company satisfactory to the Awarding Authority, by a bank cashier's check or a properly certified check for not less than five percent (5%) of the amount bid Each ) The bidder who submits the bid shall furnish a satisfactory Performance and Payment Bond in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price within fourteen (14) days after receiving notice of acceptance. Such acceptance being contingent upon the fulfillment of this requirement by said bidderbid shall be accompanied by a bid bond on the Department form contained in the bid document, executed by a corporate surety company satisfactory to the Awarding Authority, by a bank cashier's check or a properly certified check for not less than five percent (5%) of the amount bid liquidated damages of $1000 per day per occurrence. The Awarding Authority reserves the right to reject any bids for any of the conditions listed below: a) More than one bid for same work from an individual, firm partnership, or corporation under the same name or different names. b) Evidence of collusion among bidders. c) Unbalanced bids in which the bid prices for some items are, in the judgment of the Awarding Authority, out of proportion to the bid prices for other items. d) If the bid does not contain a unit price for each pay item listed except in the case of authorized alternate pay items or lump sum pay items. e) If the bid form is other than that furnished by the Awarding Authority; or if the form is altered or any part thereof is detached. f) If there are omissions, erasures, alterations unauthorized additions, conditional or alternate bids, or irregularities of any kind which may tend to make the bid incomplete, indefinite or ambiguous as to its meaning. g) If the bidder adds any provisions reserving the right to accept or reject an award, or to Question Deadline 06/07/2024 at 3:00 PM CT Send all questions via e-mails to: Kimberlei.aaron@cookcountyil.gov
