Site work and asbestos abatement for a museum in Frankfort, Kentucky. Completed plans call for site work for a museum; and for asbestos abatement for a museum.

A. The following asbestos-containing building materials must be removed prior to renovation activities: 1. 12' Floor Tile & associated Black Mastic i. At designated locations, remove and dispose of asbestos-containing floor tile and black mastic. Approximately 7,500 square feet has been identified. Include removal and disposal up to an additional 10,000 square feet as an allowance for floor tile and mastic under carpet. Coordinate with Project Designer to confirm actual quantity of floor tile and mastic once carpet has been removed. A unit price per square foot shall be used for quantity allowance adjustment to contract. ii. The Abatement Contractor shall be responsible for removing and disposing of all carpet throughout building (all floors). iii. The Abatement Contractor shall be responsible for moving furnishings as needed to remove carpet, floor tile and mastic. The Abatement Contractor shall not be responsible for electrical disconnect or moving electronic equipment. iv. The Abatement Contractor shall remove vinyl cove base. Wood and terrazzo cove base shall not be removed. 2. Pipe Joint Compound i. Remove and dispose of approximately 30 fittings in the designated 1st floor area. ii. The Abatement Contractor shall remove pipe fittings that can be reached without demolishing solid walls or ceilings. No bidder may withdraw his bid for a period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the opening of bids. All bids shall be accompanied by a bid guarantee (in the form of a bid bond or certified check) of not less than five (5%) percent of the amount of the lump sum base bid. A 100% Performance Bond and a separate 100% Payment Bond shall be furnished by the successful bidder. All bonding and insurance requirements are contained in the Instructions to Bidders and/or General Conditions. Bonds should be executed by a surety company authorized to do business by the Kentucky Secretary of State and the Kentucky Department of Insurance within the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The Division of Engineering and Contract Administration, Commonwealth of Kentucky, reserves the right to reject all bids and to waive all informalities and/or technicalities where the best interest of the Commonwealth may be served. Estimated Length of Project: 21 (Substantial Completion) + 7 (Final Completion) Document Note: Specifications and as shown on the drawings prepared by Mike McGonigle, Air Source Technology, and approved by the Department for Facilities and Support Services of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and under the terms and conditions to this Request for Bid.
