Description of Work The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, supervision and tools required to repair the 3- inch HDPE forcemain. The Contractor shall provide and submit a forcemain repair plan and approach for approval to the Engineer and Town. The Contractor shall provide and install all backfill per details and perform restoration to pre-construction conditions. Work under this item shall also include any required off hour or weekend work to complete the repair without disruption to the end user. DESCRIPTION OF WORK The project generally consists of the following work items: a. Provide and install all materials required for the repair of a 3-inch high density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe via fusion weld or other approved method. b. Provide materials required for the restoration of the site to pre-construction conditions. Work to be performed during off hours or weekends. No disturbance to the end user is permitted. c. The shutdown or manual operation of pump stations may be necessary for parts of this project. Any shutdowns must be approved by the Engineer and shall be performed by the Town Highway Department. Proper containment and disposal of all materials removed during the performance of the Work will be the responsibility of the Contractor. The Contractor is responsible for all associated materials disposal costs which shall be included in the appropriate unit bid prices. The Contractor must coordinate with the Town of Newstead Highway Department to ensure the placement of any disposal materials and / or containers is acceptable to the Town. Basic maintenance and control of traffic and conformance to OSHA confined space regulations are the responsibility of the Contractor. All costs for these items shall be included in the cost of the project. Highway work permits from the New York State Department of Transportation will be required for this project. The Contractor will be responsible for obtaining these permits and for the associated costs. All work obviously necessary for the completion of the Contract shall be included, whether or not specifically shown or specified.
