Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Topeka, Kansas. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.

The project consists of removal and replacement of concrete curb and gutter, construction of a Type I Curb Inlet, construction of 15 inch Storm Sewer (RCP) and connection to an existing structure, and a variable height asphalt mill and overlay adjacent to the replaced curb and gutter. T-151029.05, T-151032.05, T-501071.05 SBB PROJ. NO. 23-188 These Supplementary Conditions amend, modify or supplement the General Conditions for City of Topeka Department of Public Works Construction Projects, Document 700, other provisions of the Contract Documents, the Standard Technical Specifications or the Drawings, as indicated below. All provisions which are not so amended, modified or supplemented shall remain in full force and effect. Question Deadline 06/14/2024 at 10:00 PM CT The project consists of removal and replacement of concrete curb and gutter to the profile grades shown in the contract drawings, construction of a Type I Curb Inlet, and construction of 15" Storm Sewer (RCP) and connection to an existing structure, and a variable height asphalt mill and overlay adjacent to the replaced curb and gutter. The longitudinal end of the milled area be saw-cut transverse to centerline to provide a clean vertical edge and milled to the appropriate depth. Where through traffic crosses the edge of a milled area, or where traffic is being carried on a milled area, and the condition will remain overnight or for a longer period, temporary asphaltic concrete wedges shall be constructed to smooth the transition from the normal pavement surface and the milled surface. Temporary asphaltic concrete wedges are subsidiary. The Engineering Division will issue a Start Work Order after contract execution by the city and the pre-construction meeting has taken place. Work on this project shall be Monday-Friday. Saturday work may be permitted if the Contractor submits a written request by noon on the Thursday before the Saturday to be worked. The Engineer will have full discretion to allow or not allow work on Saturdays. City personnel will inspect all work. A construction inspector will be assigned to the project and the contractor must have inspector approval of the formwork and subgrade before placing concrete. A meeting prior to beginning of construction is required. Contact the project Engineer or inspector to arrange a pre-construction meeting. Owner and Contractor agree that as liquidated damages for delay (but not as penalty); The Contractor shall pay the value listed below for each day past the scheduled date of completion. See table below. All payment applications will be based on the number of units actually completed. Work will commence as soon as practical with the issuance of a Start Work Order. Substantial Completion of the Work will be within 21 days from the date the Start Work Order is issued. Final Completion will be 7 days after Substantial Completion. All traffic control devices shall be removed and the alley shall be open to traffic by Substantial Completion. The 7 days of afterwards shall provide time for a walk thru, punch list, and any clean-up items. The Contractor shall notify the Engineer and affected businesses, schools and residents of the proposed work a minimum of 72 hours in advance. The 72 hours does not include Saturdays, Sundays or holidays. It is expected that notification will include distribution of letters (for businesses) or door hangers approved by the Engineer. A traffic disruption permit is required prior to the start of work. This permit may be obtained by contacting the City of Topeka Engineering Division - Traffic Section at (785) 368-3842 a minimum of 72 hours in advance of starting work.
