The work to be done, in general, includes surface preparation, crack seal damaged areas, slurry seal III, pavement striping, concrete improvements, markers and markings, plug paving and pavement surface replacement. A preconstruction conference shall be held within 10 calendar days of contract award after which a Notice to Proceed will be immediately issued. The Contractor shall begin work within 10 calendar days after receiving a Notice to Proceed by the City of Kingsburg and shall diligently prosecute the same to completion before the expiration of 50 WORKING DAYS from the date shown in said Notice to Proceed. A valid California Contractor's License, Class A, General Engineering, is required for this project. The Contractor shall pay to the City of Kingsburg the sum of ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,000.00) per day for calendar each and every calendar day's delay in finishing the work in excess of the number of working days prescribed above. Bid security in the amount of then (10) percent of the amount of the bid, and in the form of a bid bond issued by an admitted surety insurer licensed by the California Department of Insurance, cash, cashier's check or certified check shall accompany the bid. Bid security shall be made in favor of the City of Kingsburg. The successful bidder shall furnish a faithful performance bond in the amount of 100 percent of the contract amount and a payment bond in the amount of 100 percent of the contract amount. The City Council reserves the right to reject any or all bids.
