Kearney Director Scope of work: Due to the complexity of the repair, a mandatory pre-bid site visit is required. The site visit will be held on June 12, 2024 at 10:30 am at Globe Hollow Water Treatment Plant 125 Spring Street Manchester, CT 06040 Because the Water Treat Plant operations will be interrupted during the repair, work shall be done on a day of the week selected by the Manchester Water Department and must be done between the hours of 11:00pm to 7:00am. The contractor shall provide the necessary number of workers, with the proper tools and equipment to complete the entire project in the stated timeframe. Contractor shall follow all O.S.H.A safety requirements. Contractor will have a supervisor on site to direct workers as necessary. Proper ventilation must be maintained when existing 24 couplings are cut off pipe. Pipe must be properly braced and supported before the coupling removal work can begin to prevent any vertical or lateral movement to adjacent fittings. Pipe bracing and any other prep work can be completed during normal water department business hours, which are Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30 pm. Manchester Water Department staff will close valves to isolate the pipe and provide pumping to remove water from pipe gallery. Contractor will remove three (3) existing 24 Dresser style couplings. Then install three (3) new 24 split coupling on effluent pipe and torque to manufacturers specifications. New 24 couplings will be provided by Manchester Water Department. At the same location, contractor will also remove old bolts and nuts on a 24 Venturi flow meter and install (40) new - bolts and nuts. Bolts and nuts will be provided by Manchester Water Department.
