Renovation of an educational facility in Petersburg, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

The purpose of this Invitation for Bid (IFB) is to solicit bids for all labor, material, and equipment necessary to replace the roof at Vernon Johns Middle School, 3101 Homestead Drive, Petersburg, VA 23805. Questions which may arise as a result of this solicitation may be addressed to Tamika Freeland, by email to @tafreeland@petersburg.k12.va.us tafreeland@petersburg.k12.va.us Inquiries must be received at least seven (7) business days prior to the due date in order to be considered. Guarantee of Work: All materials and workmanship shall be guaranteed for a period of twelve (12) months after final acceptance by the School Board and repairs necessary shall be made by the Contractor at his expense. Performance Bond and Labor and Material Payment Bond: If the bid price is over $100,000, a labor and material payment bond and a performance bond, each in the amount of 100% of the contract price, with a corporate surety authorized to do business in the Commonwealth of Virginia and otherwise acceptable in all respects to the School Board will be required for the faithful performance of the contract. Bid Bond: Each bid shall be accompanied by a bid bond from a surety company selected by the bidder that is authorized to do business in Virginia. The amount of the bond shall be equal to five percent of the total bid price. Attorneys-in-fact who sign Bid Bonds must file with each bond a certified and effective dated copy of their power of attorney. Each Bid Bond and the accompanying power of attorney should bear the same date. In case of the failure of the bidder to execute the contract within the prescribed time, the School Board may, at its option consider the bidder in default, in which case the bid bond accompanying the bid shall become the property of the School Board. Liquidated Damages: If the work is not completed within the time limit stated, time specifically being of the essence, the Contractor shall be liable, and hereby agrees to pay the School Board as liquidated damages and not as a penalty, the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) per calendar day for each and every day that the work remains incomplete after the expiration of the contract time for completion; the said sum or sums to be deducted from monies due or to become due the Contractor under the contract. The Owner will consider any request made by the Contractor to extend the Contractor's time for performance of the work and may grant reasonable time extensions when delays in the Contractor's work performance area directly caused by supply chain delays, if the Contractor has provided the Owner with (i.) reasonable notice in advance it's work is being impacted by supply chain delays; (ii) adequate verification to support the Contractor's claim; and (iii) written certification that any delay in its performance of the Contract is beyond the Contractor's control and not the result of actions or any failure to act by the Contractor. Termination: It shall be the sole right of the School Board to terminate the contract upon written notification to the Contractor. Plan Holders list not maintained.
