The bid should consist of constructing double bituminous surface treatment composed of mat courses and seal coats. A mat course shall consist of the application of bituminous materials covered with coarse aggregate; seal coats shall consist of lighter application of bituminous materials covered with fi ne aggregate. A double surface-treatment shall be constructed on a watered base. The County will supply the aggregate and bituminous materials. The County will complete grading and shaping roads, prior to surface treatment. Bids will be accepted for equipment and labor as follows: One computerized oil distributor, one computerized chipper and one rubber tire roller, all equipment supplied by bidder should include rates for an operator and fuel. Rate of application of bituminous material for mat course emulsified, asphalt use at rates of application shall not be less than .34 or more than .55 gallon per square yard. APPLICATION OF COURSE AGGREGATE: Aggregates shall be spread uniformly over bituminous materials with self propelled chip spreader at rates of not less than 45 or more than 50 pounds per square yard. Spread shall closely follow the application of bituminous at the proper temperature. As soon as the aggregates have been uniformly spread, they shall be rolled with rubber tire rollers. SECOND APPLICATION: Applications of bituminous seal coat materials, the rate of application shall be .35 to .45 gallon per square yards. Application of seal coat aggregate shall be uniformly spread with self-propelled chip spreader over the bituminous materials to ensure that the chips are being embedded in the bituminous materials while they are still at the proper temperature. When the chips have been uniformly distributed, they shall be immediately rolled with a rubber tire roller. This bid shall apply for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2023/2024, and continue throughout Fiscal Year 2024/2025.
