Oak Valley Health has been working closely with the Ministry of Health to bring forth a hospital that is up to the latest design, functionality and standards. In order to facilitate the construction of the hospital, there are initial site works that are included in this scope of work. The purpose of the Early Works Phase is to commence with the relocation of critical hospital infrastructure and the construction of siteworks to prepare the new building site for construction, while providing secondary construction access to reduce the impacts to existing hospital and Oak Tree Medical Building operations. This is the first phase of construction for the new campus, which includes a new hospital, new long-term care building and the existing Oak Tree Medical building. The early works aim to prepare the site for the construction of the hospital and the Long-Term Care facility. The scope of work highlighted in the design documents includes but is not limited to: extension of site services, construction of a service road, storm water management and other pieces of work highlighted. The early works will be constructed in two phases as defined in the bidding documents. During the first phase, installation of new site services, retaining wall and road construction, stormwater infrastructure and new parking areas will be constructed, along with the civil, electrical and structural works required to accommodate a new high-voltage sub-station. The procurement and installation of the sub-station and related electrical feeds will occur in phase 2. Phase 1 construction will be completed by October 31, 2025. Phase 2 activities are expected to commence later so that the substation installation is aligned with the construction of the Long-Term Care Facility, which will be the second stage of campus construction. Substantial completion of the project, estimated to be on or around November 2025 for Phase 1 and between June and September 2027 for Phase 2, or upon mutual agreement that the work as defined in the contract is completed. The commencement and completion dates may be adjusted to align with project and/or administrative requirements by the Purchaser.
