Pine Avenue Under this bid item, the Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, tools, equipment, and incidentals required to perform completely the Existing Manhole Alterations as specified, as shown on Contract Drawings or as directed the Engineer. Section 3b- Detailed Specifications - Page 1 of4 Bid Item 3 -Existing Manhole Alterations Where the bottom ofthe excavation is found unstable, the Contractor shall remove such unsuitable material as necessary to the width and depth ordered by the Engineer. Such unsuitable material removed shall be replaced with such suitable material ordered by the Engineer. If rock is encountered, it shall be excavated six inches (6") below the new pipe grade line and backfilled to the pipe grade with bedding stone material. Work to be performed under this item shall include, but is not limited to, the following: All required pavement sawcutting Any/all required excavation, including shoring and bracing Removal of portions of the existing manhole structure for purposes of direct connections to new piping In-kind brick-and-mortar patching of existing manhole penetrations to be removed In-kind brick-and-mortar resetting of upper courses of brick to allow finished manhole elevation to meet existing pavement Concrete bench alterations ifnecessary All required backfilling
