The Department of Public Works for the City of Capitola is currently advertising for proposals for Bids for construction of the following project: Bay Avenue and Hill Street Intersection Quick-Build Provide road diet and traffic calming quick-build improvements at the Bay Avenue and Hill Street intersection to enhance pedestrian and bicycle safety and visibility. The project scope includes constructing new signing and striping along the Bay Avenue, Hill Street, and commercial driveway approaches to the intersection. The total estimated cost of construction is $50,000 General work description: Provide road diet and traffic calming quick-build improvements at the Bay Avenue and Hill Street intersection to enhance pedestrian and bicycle safety and visibility. The project scope includes constructing new signing and striping along the Bay Avenue, Hill Street, and commercial driveway approaches to the intersection. No contractor or subcontractor shall be qualified to bid on, be listed in a bid proposal, or enter into any contract for public work, unless currently registered and qualified to perform public work pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5. By submitting a bid or proposal to the City, Contractor is certifying that he or she has verified that all subcontractors used on this public work project are registered with the DIR in compliance with Labor Code sections 1771.1 and 1725.5, and Contractor shall provide proof of registration to the City. This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations. Notice is also hereby given that all bidders shall submit, with their proposals or bids, a sworn statement of their financial responsibility, technical ability and experience. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Labor and Material Bond in the amount equal to 100 percent of the contract price, and a Faithful Performance Bond in an amount equal to 100 percent of the contract price, said bonds to be issued by a corporate surety company in the form approved by the City Attorney. The contractor will be allowed ten calendar days after she/he has received written notice that the contract has been awarded to him/her by the City within which to deliver the agreement with his/her signature affixed thereto, together with the completed aforementioned bonds and insurance certificates, to the Director of Public Works of the City of Capitola. The City of Capitola reserves the right to reject any and all bids and waive any irregularity or minor defects in any proposal received. Unless otherwise required by law, no bidder may withdraw his/her bid for a period of thirty days after the date set for the opening thereof. Where possible, bids will be compared on the basis of the Engineer's estimate of the quantities of work to be performed.
