Project consists of the demolition of and replacement of selected areas of existing roofing and parapet coping at the Urbandale Middle School. The work includes all General Work. Work on the Project shall commence as soon as possible after notice of the Contract and is currently scheduled for a substantial completion date on or before September 27, 2024. Each Bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security in a separate, sealed envelope as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, as security that the successful Bidder will enter into a Contract for the work bid upon and will furnish within ten (10) days after the award of Contract a corporate Surety Bond, in a form acceptable to the Board of Directors of the Urbandale Community School District, for the faithful performance of the Contract, in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the amount of the Contract. The Bidder's security shall be in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the amount of the bid and shall be in the form of a cashier's check or a certified check drawn on an FDIC insured bank in Iowa or on an FDIC insured bank chartered under the laws of the United States; or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States; or a Bid Bond on the form provided in the Contract Documents with corporate Surety satisfactory to the Board of Directors of Urbandale Community School District. The bid shall contain no condition except as provided in the specifications. Bid security shall be made payable to Urbandale Community School District. The successful Bidder will be required to furnish within ten (10) days of the award proof of insurance as required by the Bid Documents and a Performance Bond and Labor and Material Payment Bond both in an amount equal to 100% of the Contract Price and in accordance with other requirements outlined in the Bid Documents. Question Deadline 07/08/2024 Submit questions about Bidding Documents to the Architect-Engineer. The Architect-Engineer and the Owner will not be responsible for oral clarification. Questions received less than seventy-two (72) hours before the Bid opening cannot be answered. Minority and Targeted Small Business participation is encouraged. Bidders shall make a good faith documented effort to encourage the participation of Certified Iowa Targeted Small Business in accordance with the Code of Iowa. The Board of Directors may make the contract award to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder meeting specifications. The right is reserved to reject any or all bids, or any part thereof, and to waive informalities as allowed by law, and to enter into such contract or contracts as shall be deemed in the best interests of Urbandale Community School District.
