The Town of Readfield seeks proposals from qualified firms to complete exterior painting services for the Readfield Public Library. The work will generally consist of preparation and painting of all existing exterior painted surfaces on the Library Building. The base substrate consists mainly of wood siding, along with wood shutters and wood trim. The painting preparation will include complete removal of existing peeling and distressed paint as well as light carpentry work where needed. Take all necessary precautionary and safety measures to prevent fire hazards and spontaneous combustion and to prevent the environment from hazard spills. Paint and materials must be stored appropriately and removed from site on a daily basis Protect all exterior surfaces and areas including landscaping, walks, and all adjacent building surfaces (including glass, metal stairway, main entrance ramp, etc.) Remove shutters for repainting. Remove any signage and hardware, surface fittings prior to repainting and re-install upon completion. Wood clapboard siding and trim that is deteriorated shall be replaced in kind. Small areas of damage can be repaired with epoxy fill. Fill all holes and imperfections, caulk all necessary areas. All wood repairs shall be sanded smooth prior to priming/painting. Provide hand tool and power tool removal of any areas that have peeling, blistering or loose paint. No priming or painting work shall commence until all adverse conditions and defects have been corrected. Painting Painting: o Manufactures: Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore & Co. o Primary Paint systems: Spot primer plus two finish coats o Application: Exterior Surfaces Alkyd Primer 2 coats latex finish o Provide all paint products from one manufacture o Substitutions: Requests for substitutions will only be considered if equal or better o Building Finish/Color: Satin White, Shutters: Semi-Gloss Black Deliver all painting materials in sealed, original containers bearing manufactures name and brand as well as type of paint Perform no painting below 40 degrees F or when relative humidity is above 85%. Comply with manufacturer's instructions and recommendations for preparation, priming and coating work. Do not reduce, thin or dilute coatings.
