The renovation will focus on the following items: adding humidity control in the basement, waterproofing at select locations along the building's foundation/basement, balancing the existing HVAC system, re-lamping existing light fixtures, upgrading lighting controls, making existing elevator upgrades, new natural gas boiler system, new fire alarm system, testing (allowance) for BDA system, and address accessibility of restrooms. CONSTRUCTION COST RANGE: $3,700,000 to $4,100,000 *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. The Ida Jane Dacus Library was originally constructed in 1969 to replace the existing Carnegie Library, which is now known as Rutledge Hall. The building houses the campus' general collection and music library and provides study spaces for students. This project aims to provide much needed building system improvements to the facility, as well as minor improvements to a limited area of interior spaces The exterior improvements will be limited to the work necessary to address water intrusion and envelope integrity items at the lower level. This work is expected to include installing new below grade exterior waterproofing at the northern corner of the building at the site of suspected water intrusion. The existing lower level contains a portion of the library's general and juvenile collections. Other spaces include a computer classroom, student seating, meditation room, piano lab, restrooms, and mechanical and electrical rooms. The existing first floor primarily serves as the library's learning commons. This space houses the reference collection and student seating. Architectural demountable partitions are being used to provide 7 group study spaces for student use. Additional spaces on this level include staff workspace, director and administrative spaces, restrooms, and mechanical and electrical spaces. The scope of work on this level will be limited to interior finish replacement and any incidental architectural work required for building system improvements.
