IMPACC Project Peninsula Fiber Network (PFN) is seeking qualified professional civil engineering firms to support the Chicago portion of the PFN Infrastructure for Michigan's Peninsulas and Critical Crossings (IMPACC) Project. The request for services covers engineering design and permitting for the utility installation from two Horizontal Directional Drilled (HDD) landing sites. One landing site is planned on Chicago Park District property near I-55 Stevenson Expressway at DuSable Lake Shore Dr (Southern Cable). The other location is on Northerly Island (Northern Cable). The Southern Cable will extend from the landing site to a utility access manhole near 350 E. Cermak. The Northern Cable will extend from the landing site on Northerly Island to the Freight Tunnel entrance west of Field Museum. The route from the landing site will either be via 1) an HDD bore under Burnham Harbor or 2) along E. Solidarity Dr. Interested firms will need to display specific experience in the project area and indicate proven ability in developing detailed design and implementing similar projects. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
