Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Merced, California. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.

The work to be performed includes but not limited to clearing and grubbing; by-passing the flow of Black Rascal Creek, removal of 48" storm drain pipe, roadway removal, and the installation of drainage improvements including headwalls, gabions, netting, etc. Construction of a raised crosswalk. Cherokee Avenue is planned to be closed between Columbia Avenue and Amador Court. Restoration shall include the reconstruction of roadway to include asphalt paving, curb and gutter, sidewalk, relocation of bike path, fencing and landscaping. Engineer's Estimate: $600,000 Such other items or details, not mentioned above, that are required by the Plans, Standard Specifications, City of Merced Standard Designs and the Special Provisions shall be performed, placed, constructed or installed The project is located along the alignment of Black Rascal Creek and Cherokee Avenue between Columbia Avenue and E. Brookdale Drive in the City of Merced, California. Bids are required for the entire work described herein. The envelope shall be plainly marked in the upper left hand corner with the name and address of the Bidder and shall bear the words "Bid for Cherokee Avenue Culvert Replacement". The certified or cashier's check or Bid Bond shall be enclosed in the same envelope with the Bid. This contract is subject to state contract nondiscrimination and compliance requirements pursuant to Government Code, Section 12990. Award of Contract: (a) The City reserves the right after opening bids to reject any or all bids, to waive any informality (non-responsiveness) in a bid, or to make award to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder and reject all other bids, as it may be best serve the interest of the City; (b) The ranking of bids will be based on the combination of bid schedules that the City awards; (c) As a condition of award, the successful bidder shall furnish a payment bond and a performance bond each in the full amount of the contract price. The successful bidder will also be required to submit proof of insurance for work involved. Each bid shall be accompanied by a certified or cashier's check or Bid Bond in the amount of 10 percent of the total bid price, payable to the City of Merced. The Contractor shall possess a valid Class A license at the time of submitting bids. Section 3-1.06, "Contractor License," of the Standard Specifications is amended to read: Attention is also directed to the provisions of Public Contract Code Section 10164. For Federal-aid contract, the Contractor must be properly licensed as a Contractor from contract award through contract acceptance.
