PROJECT DESCRIPTION, SCOPE AND BUDGET: UT Austin and UT MD Anderson are proposing to design and construct a public higher education academic medical center on the 13.41-acre site formerly occupied by the Frank Erwin Center and the Denton A. Cooley Pavilion. Both UT Austin and UT MD Anderson have agreed to a single architect to design a medical center that is patient-centered, optimizes patient care and experience, enables digital technology, optimizes the ability to automate where appropriate, and has aesthetic elements contemplated to provide a seamless experience and flow for patients, faculty, and staff with each patient care enterprise. As of April 8, 2026, this project has not yet started construction but has been awarded.
