Renovation of a medical facility in Prince Rupert, British Columbia. Working plans call for the renovation of a six-story above grade medical facility.
The purpose of this project is to replace domestic water piping throughout Prince Rupert Regional Hospital (PRRH). PRRH was built in the early 1970's and is six storeys, including two basement levels for building operations, and four levels for patients and medical staff. All domestic water service piping, hot, cold, recirculated, and fittings, from the water entrance and throughout PRRH to each fixture are due for replacement based on the age of the facility and accelerated pipe degradation from water quality challenges. TIMELINE: Plans are complete. Tender and construction timelines are undetermined. Further update in early summer 2026, upon approvals. *Northern Health is seeking fees for each phase listed above; however, a contract will only be issued for Phase 1 and 2 above at this time.
