Question Deadline 06/21/2024 The Project will include the following construction work: Removal of the tailrace wall extending downstream from the east side of the Cedar River Dam just north of Bremer Avenue. Removal limits extend from a point approximately fifteen feet south of the dam to the south end of the tailrace wall downstream of the bridge. Removals include the portion of the existing bridge pier in line with the tailrace wall. The project also includes clearing and grubbing and excavation of the accumulated sediment adjacent to the tailrace wall. The work under the proposed contract shall be completed in coordination with the Iowa DOT IA 3 / Bremer Avenue over Cedar River bridge replacement project. Work shall commence within fifteen (15) days after issuance of the "Notice to Proceed" which will coincide with the removal of portions of the bridge above the east pier/tailrace wall by the Bridge Contractor and shall be completed five (5) days prior to the scheduled date of setting beams by the Bridge Contractor. The City will receive and consider bids on the project. Award of contract will be made to the lowest responsive, responsible, qualified bidder. Names of subcontractors shall be listed and submitted with the proposal. All bids must be filed with the Public Works Director on or before the time herein set. All bids shall be made on forms furnished by the City, and must be enclosed in a separate sealed envelope and plainly identified. Each bid shall be accompanied by a bid bond, certified check, cashier's check or a Certified Share Draft in a separate sealed envelope in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the total amount bid. Payment to the contractor will be made in semi-monthly estimates and one final payment. Semi-monthly estimates will be equivalent to ninety-five percent (95%) of the contract value of the work completed during the preceding calendar month. Estimates will be prepared on the first day of each month by the Contractor.
