This specification also includes the requirements for clean-up of releases (spills) of hazardous materials. 1. A "Short Term Temporary Traffic Signal" consists of the placement of traffic signals and the required signing, pavement marking and traffic control devices and shall control each direction of traffic leading into the construction work area. 2. A "Short Term Temporary Traffic Signal" may be used in lieu of a flagging operation when approved by the Engineer and when they meet the length and duration limits described in this section. 3. "Short Term Temporary Traffic Signal"(s) shall be used at the construction work area(s) shown in the contract when the pay item "Short Term Temporary Traffic Signal" is included in the contract. a. The construction work areas shall be maintained at a length of not more than 1000 feet. 4. Length and Duration Limits a. The construction work area being serviced by a Short Term Temporary Traffic Signal shall be maintained at a length of not more than 1000 feet to provide a distance between "Stop Here on Red" signs of not more than 1500 feet. b. The work within the construction work area shall be managed to limit the duration of time that a Short Term Temporary Traffic Signal is in service to not more than 72 consecutive hours. c. A Short Term Temporary Traffic Signal shall not be taken out of service before the construction work area can accept traffic without the Engineer's approval. This work shall consist of furnishing and installing wet night retroreflective polyurea pavement markings in accordance with this provision and in conformance to the dimensions and lines shown on the plans or established by the Engineer. The wet reflective polyurea marking material shall be applied by spray method onto asphaltic cement concrete and Portland cement concrete surfaces. Following an application of glass beads or black aggregate, and upon curing, the resulting marking shall be an adherent reflectorized stripe of the specified thickness and width that is capable of resisting deformation by traffic. The Contractor shall field verify the pavement marking quantities required for the project prior to purchasing materials. The Department will not be held responsible for the Contractor's shortage or surplus of material. The Contractor's verification of quantities and purchasing material shall not delay the project or the installation of pavement marking when required. This work shall consist of furnishing and installing retroreflective polyurea pavement markings in accordance with this provision and in conformance to the dimensions and lines shown on the plans or established by the Engineer. The polyurea marking material shall be applied by spray method onto asphaltic cement concrete and Portland cement concrete surfaces. Following an application of glass beads or black aggregate, and upon curing, the resulting marking shall be an adherent reflectorized stripe of the specified thickness and width that is capable of resisting deformation by traffic. The Contractor shall field verify the pavement marking quantities required for the project prior to purchasing materials. The Department will not be held responsible for the Contractor's shortage or surplus of material. The Contractor's verification of quantities and purchasing material shall not delay the project or the installation of pavement marking when required. This work shall consist of strengthening the pavement structure by cross stitching the longitudinal cracks and longitudinal joints, as shown in the plans, or as designated by the Engineer. The work shall include drilling the holes, placing the new tie bars, and filling the holes with epoxy adhesives.
