Closing Time: 3:00 PM (NT) Question Acceptance Deadline 2024/07/10 03:00:00 PM NDT This section of the specification outlines the technical requirements for the Lump Sum Snow Clearing Contracts that have been identified as various contracts under "List of Buildings in Contract". The work in general shall consist of keeping areas as described in the Scope of Work, free of snow and ice to permit unimpeded flow of traffic to and from these areas and the cleaning (sweeping) of all parking lot entrances, parking lots, on-site roadways and walkways. The contractor is required to supply and pay for all labour, materials, tools, equipment, and services necessary for the execution and completion of the work. The work shall include the supplying of all labour, materials, equipment and services necessary for the execution and completion to the Director's satisfaction, for the price tendered of all the work described in these specifications and below. 1. Snow Clearing .1 The contractor shall clear all snow from all parking lots, parking lot entrances, on-site roadways, access roadways, turning areas, loading areas, sidewalks adjacent to roads and parking lots and fire lanes. .2 Snow clearing must commence whenever there is an accumulation of 50mm (2") or more of snow or when wind conditions cause drifting to such a degree that it will impede the smooth flow of traffic. The contractor must visit the site when the conditions are doubtful to make sure there will be no impediment to the flow of traffic. Fire lanes must be kept open at all times 24 hours/day. .3 The contractor must plow snow to the extremities of all areas being cleared in order to utilize all the on-site storage space to its maximum. Storage sites shall be identified and designated by the owner. .4 Snow shall be cleared in such a manner to avoid leaving a buildup of any snow or ice. Any such buildup of snow or ice left on cleared areas is to be removed at no cost to the owner. .5 When overnight snowfalls or drifting occurs to such a degree to warrant snow clearing, then all areas are to be cleared not later than 07:00 hours. The following exceptions apply: 6 Some buildings may be in full or partial operation during evenings, weekends and holidays. The contractor shall provide snow clearing and ice control during those periods in accordance with the operation schedule of the building. .7 Access must be maintained to poles identified on site utilized by the college for training purposes.
