Renovation of an educational facility in Amherst, New York. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
The State University Construction Fund (SUCF) is seeking Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) from consultants to provide design and construction administration services for the Renovate Computer Center for Science Teaching Labs at University at Buffalo, The State University of New York. The Project is a comprehensive (gut) renovation of the Computing Center building. The Computing Center building (A510) is a three-story, 41,999 GSF building, constructed in 1985. The Computing Center abuts Fronczak Hall to the east and is at the north edge of the science and mathematics precinct. Its envelope is original except for the roof which was replaced in 2012. The scope includes Interior demolition and reconstruction including new layout, finishes and fixtures, data, and security to create teaching labs & related support space for biology and geology. Also included are envelope upgrades: replacement of windows & doors, repointing of the brick veneer, interior insulation of the exterior walls and additional insulation below roof for energy conservation. Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems are to be replaced. Mechanical systems shall include specialty lab ventilation and an air source heat pump system. The existing roof will be replaced with a modified bitumen roof system. Structural analysis will be required to determine if the roof can support mechanical equipment. The building will be renovated to Deep Energy Retrofit standards in accordance with SUCF Directive 1B-2. The project also requires hazardous materials remediation and accessibility improvements, including car-in-shaft refurbishment of two elevators, and site work. The construction value is estimated at approximately $41,794,000. Minority Owned Sub-Contracting Goal: 15% Women Owned Sub-Contracting Goal: 15% Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Contracting Goal: 6%
